A wealth of evidence indicates a strong linkage between childhood abuse, violence and neglect with behavioral and mental health disorders later in life.

In the College of Health Sciences’ ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Presents breakfast forum, "Stress, Trauma and Resilience: A Neurobiological Perspective," a panel of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ neuroscientists discussed brain mechanisms of stress responsiveness and coping, the effects of stress hormones on the brain’s developmental trajectory and epigenetic changes that can perpetuate negative effects across multiple generations.
