Exhibit: Womenߴs Athletics at ������ý

 Fifty years have passed since women at ������ý entered intercollegiate athletics. Women have played sports at ������ý for nearly as long as they have been admitted to the university—that is, for more than a century. But the enactment of the federal Title IX statute in 1972 finally opened the doors to the competitive play that ������ý's male athletes had long engaged in and enjoyed.

A Raynor Library exhibit now celebrates the history surrounding this achievement as well as the stories of luminary female athletes who have made their mark on ������ý along the way. The exhibit draws on photographs, newspapers, yearbooks, and other unique historical materials found only in the library's University Archives.
