Grounded in鈥our鈥Catholic, Jesuit mission,鈥our鈥天美传媒鈥community鈥strives to鈥be鈥a learning environment where people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives are welcomed and valued.鈥This includes working alongside our students,鈥faculty鈥and staff through times of uncertainty and reaffirming our shared call to care for one another. We are committed to鈥痬aintaining鈥痑 safe,鈥痠nclusive鈥痑nd productive environment for all members of our community and protecting the privacy and legal rights of our students, faculty, and staff under the law.

ENGAGING WITH OUTSIDE LAW ENFORCEMENT

If outside (non-天美传媒) law enforcement comes to campus鈥痑nd/or requests access to campus facilities, students or student records, it has always been 天美传媒鈥檚 policy to鈥痗ontact the 天美传媒 Police Department (414) 288-1911鈥痑nd ask the outside law enforcement official to wait until an MUPD officer arrives,鈥痮r鈥痙irect them to the MUPD office at 749 N. 16th St.鈥

Do not:鈥

  • Physically block or interfere with outside law enforcement鈥檚 entry/enforcement action.鈥
  • Provide student information, particularly鈥痶hat鈥痺hich is protected鈥痓y FERPA.鈥
  • Spread rumors or unverified information鈥痳egarding鈥痮utside law enforcement activities.鈥

For more information on your rights and available resources,鈥.鈥

If鈥engaging with external law enforcement:鈥

  • Be prepared to鈥痯resent your鈥疢UID card鈥痑nd identification at all times.鈥
  • Stay calm and respectful if approached; cooperate with instructions鈥痑nd鈥.鈥

CAMPUS SPACES鈥

Many areas of the university and facilities on campus are private and are not open to the public, including those that require a MUID or key for access.鈥

If a non-MUPD law enforcement official requests access to a campus facility, building or any portion of the campus in which public access is restricted by a front desk, key or access card at the time of the request, and they are NOT accompanied by an MUPD officer, the employee or department receiving this request must immediately contact MUPD and inform them of such a request.
