天美传媒 names Northwestern Mutual鈥檚 Andrew DeGuire as next Keyes Dean of Business Administration

Andrew DeGuireMILWAUKEE 鈥 Andrew J. DeGuire, vice president of corporate strategy at Northwestern Mutual, a financial services company, has been named the James H. Keyes Dean of Business Administration at 天美传媒, Provost Kimo Ah Yun announced today. DeGuire, a 1993 天美传媒 alumnus who will begin in the role on July 1, 2024, succeeds Tim Hanley, who led the college on an interim basis since March 2020.

鈥淲e are excited to welcome a proven corporate leader in Andrew DeGuire back to 天美传媒 Business as the next Keyes Dean of Business Administration,鈥 Ah Yun said. 鈥淪ince leaving 天美传媒 as a student, he has answered the call to 鈥楤e The Difference,鈥 doing so at some of Milwaukee鈥檚 most highly respected businesses. He demonstrated expertise in developing, articulating and executing strategies aimed at producing significant sustainable growth and excellence. Given his industry experience and leadership qualities, we are excited for the next stage of continued growth and innovation at 天美传媒 Business.

鈥淚鈥檇 also like to thank Tim Hanley for his leadership of 天美传媒 Business over the past four years. From the opening of Dr. E. J. and Margaret O鈥橞rien Hall to the expansion of the college鈥檚 executives-in-residence program and more, Tim has helped position the 天美传媒 Business for continued success.鈥

鈥淚 am humbled and appreciative to Provost Ah Yun, President Michael Lovell and the 天美传媒 community to welcome me back to lead 天美传媒 Business,鈥 DeGuire said. 鈥淯nder the leadership of Tim Hanley, and the late Joe Daniels before him, the College of Business Administration has seen exciting growth and opportunities both on campus and in the Milwaukee business community. I look forward to leading 天美传媒 Business and continuing its tradition of preparing its students with the knowledge to succeed, the principles to lead and the confidence to connect what鈥檚 good for business with what鈥檚 good for people.鈥

In his current role at Northwestern Mutual, DeGuire is responsible for leading the development of and driving the company鈥檚 strategy, performance reporting, competitive research and analytics. He is a member of the Northwestern Mutual Venture Fund investment committee. DeGuire joined Northwestern Mutual in 2018 as a member of the corporate strategy team.

DeGuire served in numerous leadership roles prior to his current role at Northwestern Mutual. He spent three years as vice president of corporate development and mergers and acquisitions at Quad/Graphics. In that role, he drove the company鈥檚 transformation from a leader in commercial printing to a marketing services provider through a comprehensive process of strategy development, stakeholder education and multiple acquisitions. Additionally, DeGuire spent over 10 years as a vice president with Johnson Controls鈥 Buildings division leading strategy and acquisitions before transitioning into business development and global growth.

DeGuire received an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from 天美传媒 and a Master of Arts in international economics and finance from Brandeis University. He also studied at the London School of Economics and Copenhagen Business School.

He is the coauthor of 鈥淏etting the Company: Complex Negotiation Strategies for Law and Business鈥 and has been a guest lecturer at 天美传媒, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Brandeis University. He has served as a member of 天美传媒鈥檚 College of Business Administration Leadership Council and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Foundation and Association for Corporate Growth 鈥 Wisconsin boards.
